Do I Need a Realtor to Buy a House?

Do you need a Realtor to buy a house?

The Realtor you sign on with represents YOU, and this comes with many benefits:

  • A Realtor will do the work to search for homes that meet your criteria in current listings and future listings after you have compiled a list of features you would like your home to have.
  • Once you have found a home you want to make an offer on, your real estate agent helps you put together the best offer possible that meets with your preapproval.
  • After your home is under contract, your Realtor will help you negotiate anything that needs to be negotiated after the home inspection.
  • Your Realtor will also help guide and advise you through the rest of the process, from closing to what utilities you may need to turn on and when.

A good Realtor may show you a house or two as part of the initial courtship while deciding if you want to work together. If you’re working with a seasoned professional Realtor, that courtship won’t take very long. Make sure the agent you work with makes you feel comfortable. They are helping you make the single biggest purchase you may ever make.

My dad used to tell me that I would be judged by the company I keep. As a homebuyer, you will be judged by the Realtor who represents you. Make sure the Realtor you choose makes you feel you are well represented.
